Here is
May 30, 2012

now it’s closer to what I meant
You are currently browsing the archives for May, 2012.

Today I turn 25.
I should hide but… well… the webmaster is in town, at the end we have to be glad to be alive, we are not starving… why not going out and spend the whole day with him?
Then, why don’t just stop in front of a fountain that is “Villa Bellini” in Catania?
Say “uh-wow. Is it new?”
And hear the webmaster kindly explaining that the fountain was already there when we were kids, so it’s probably there since before we were born (or at least before I was born)…
Sometime, I’m slow … really slow…(at noticing things)
And why not trying to make an HDR picture using long exposed pictures?
I’m not so happy about the left part of the shot, I will check tomorrow if I can do something to fix it…
I didn’t want to cut the composition or cut the picture…I consider that ray of light, hitting the left part of the fountain, a challenge that has to be accepted and lived in THE right way.
The only thing I am sure about is that I can’t complain of my birthday.
I just wish people were a little closer to that Beauty, whose reflex I look for…

The strange “creature” I have found few hours ago on the balcony soon after rain stopped
Or, if you prefer, it’s just an imperfect tiny leaf from which hang a little rain drop inside which you can see the reflection of a building
Cleaning up pictures.
Once again!
There are 2 main facts that make this “operation” an endless activity
1. If you keep taking pictures you’ll never finish to order them
(probably your pictures folder will be still messy the day you die)
2. If you stop at each folder to play with pictures…

you are kinda hopeless.
In the last days I have been a little busy setting up the brand new laptop.
A convertible tablet pc that can been defined as an expensive laptop even if it isn’t, of course, THE most expensive laptop you can buy.
I won’t waste your and my time talking about why I bought this, it’s just
- great
- useful for both fun and study
I have promised pictures to friends but I hadn’t much time to take pictures and post them the way I want.
I have also promised to another friend of mine, who since 2007 run a blog in Italian about this kind of products , to take some pictures, video and write down a review in Italian about this new precious “toy”.
I still have to complete taking pictures and figure out what I should write down to make a useful review… but… that’s my blog so just start telling how all the story started… but let’s do it tomorrow because it’s very late here in Italy and I have a bunch of things to do left for today.
Just look at the little monster on his first day on the swing on the balcony.

My Italian teacher at school didn’t like when someone (often just me) repeat a concepts in the essay, I understand him but some concepts were too amazing and I HAD TO repeat ;P
Why this 6yo memory? I have already wrote at least 2 pots about the way taking pictures is for me a great way to defeat those little but yet annoying fears.
What’s more terrible than a bee or a spider? Nothing! If I see one of these I tend to run away as fast as possible yelling i a way that it’s so barbie-brain woman that my father starts laughing out loud (since it’s quite unusual I behave this way).
My mother starts saying “you are the one who in her childhood cut dead fishes to see the way they are made. You have no problem to bury smelly dead animals we find in the backyard. You even enjoy to caress/get close to all kind of reptile you happen to see, WHY ON THE EARTH YOU FEAR A BEE or an INNOCENT SPIDER?!?”
Here a typical slice of my family-life… and of my constant non-sense.
All this is true until I am using my camera.
If I decide to take a picture of a bee or of something close to the area where a bee and wasp were enjoying some flowers… I just take that picture

That’s what happened on Sunday to take the 2 shots you can see in this post.

I am still amazed how I didn’t run away. I can’t explain HOW but I can say that I decided to control my fear, to still keep careful but don’t give taking those pictures.
Wish it could work for all other fears… maybe, who knows, someday it will happen.
P.s. this should be a strawberry flower.

I wanted to write a post about a picture taken today (May 13th) but I had to change mind.
I’ll get back soon.
Hopefully.
Do you remember “Cure di mamma passero” [sparrow mom's care] story?
4 years later. Today, as soon as I have finished to study what I have decided to study during the first part of the day, another mama sparrow showed up in front of my room with her little one.
I was too lazy to open my DSLR backpack… so I have decide to just use my bridge camera and go on the balcony even without great hopes to catch something.
As imagined, the fact that something (me) was getting out from the door-window made the little one and mama sparrow fly away as fast as possible.
Well, it wasn’t a problem. I was there, outside on the balcony, thinking about where I could hide to take some pictures when a little guy showed up.

I have to admit that the little one has a great sense of humor, it felt like it was saying “Oh, annoying human feeding me with rusk as payment for my patience to be a subject of your pictures, this time I will let you just enjoy the panorama of my bu…back!”
Trying to get the frontal view of the funny sparrow I have reached the other end of the balcony, but the back-showing guy run away as soon as it saw me getting too close.
So… I was sitting on the hot floor of the balcony, no more sparrows around…
My hopes were almost over, when, just a second before I was getting up to get back home, mama sparrow and little guy got back.
I thought: “SSSSH! They didn’t notice me! Don’t move!”
Unfortunately I was just able to hear them, and you take no picture if you see nothing… I was about to definitely give up when, for unknown reasons, they both run up on a plant branches…and… well…

yay!
Even if they were against light I’m so glad I had the chance to get this picture!
Let’s see if in the next days they will offer the situation to get a better shot!
