At times a resolute and sweet approach to some problems can be the only solution…

[Or a good way for a kitty to get whatever it wants ]

Today we (me and my family) had lunch and spent the afternoon-evening time at the house where my brother lives. I played with the kitty (read:I’ve taken picture to her), and then I tried to study a little while Java was sleeping beside me.

If wasn’t that at certain point, for only God knows the reason, she jumped on my stomach (I was kinda curled up with my book) and got back sleeping on my astrophysics book. I’d have never thought a book could have been more comfortable than an armchair…

I tried, of course, taking a few picture of Java sleeping on “astrophysics knowledge”… but light wasn’t great and position even less great since the book, and therefore the cat, was on my lap and I was sitting not exactly in the proper way…beside these aspects, I was using my father’s lens that is great because it’s an f 1.4 but it doesn’t focus thing that are closer than 45cm and it’s like a big zoom (on my camera it’s an equivalent of about 100mm). This last aspect usually is something good, but if you have to take a decent shot of a very very close subject a great aspect turns into a little problem.

Then I made her going back to sleep beside me and I kept on reading/trying to study.

I had lunch with the webmaster on the port dock. I wanted to go there, close to the sea, for my birthday.

This sparrow was without a paw and standing on this gate, it seemed so “not feeling good” as it were in a cage.

The very first picture taken to Java that came the day of my birthday but not for me… not completely at least.

Amazing coincidences…

I’m still trying to figure out who is the wisest of the two…

The cat was on a wall and the bird on the beside tree “twittering” toward the cat.
It sounded like the bird was mocking the cat.

The magpie flew to a lower branch, so the cat jumped and tried to climb up the tree to reach the bird.

Then, the magpie flew away on a much higher branch, but the cat kept on looking at it.

I took out my camera while insulting myself to have lost the action I’ve just tried to describe with words.

I got closer to the cat and the webmaster made a noise to make the cat turning toward me. That’s what I caught:

It looked like the cat was thinking “I wish I were able to fly”.

Despite I am glad it didn’t catch the bird (I like those birds) I thought: “Yeah, I wish I were able to fly too…”

My brother and I tried to take it, because my brother wanted to bring it at his home (where he has a little garden) and take care of it.

Apparently  the kitty didn’t enjoy our idea so I guess we just got to make it feeling hunted.

It kept on hiding inside, behind or under cars till, at 2 am, we gave up and let it at peace.

In the early afternoon it came back.
A young woman living in this building left some food for it.
I was glad of this because while the kitty was eating I have the chance to take some pictures.

As always, if I start taking picture of something people around becomes curious and at times it isn’t that good.

Indeed, I guess that if you are kitty and you are surrounded by 4 people you’ll start getting really irritated…

However, it is still a little cute kitty that gets scared easily:

I’m pretty sure it will always find food here and I think this is at least a good thing…

Hoping well for it.

although today I had the luck to spend a few hours trying to find something popping up from darkness

and although I still have the luck to dream and hope I’ll be able to leave a mark, even a thin one, on this world that will be “enlighten” by The Eternal Light.

Despite all, I already decided a life course,

that appears to be the opposite of the one that should be, but, this it the only possible good one at the moment…

therefore I’ve to complete my work, to complete what I’ve started 3 years ago (and I’m already late).

Completing this work might mean to never change direction, but surely it means, now, to drop the camera for a while… to keep it always beside me and ready to sh3oot, because I do need it to “breath” and go ahead… but being ready only for taking pictures if “something comes” and stop looking for that “something” for a little while…

Tonight I probably saw the end of the last day of “freedom to look for”, that’s why I feel a little gloomy but, only a little.

Today sunset said me “Stop playing with the camera and go back to your real work”, but it told me in a kind and comfortable way.

As that little star wanted to tell “it’s not ALL over when sun goes down”…

I know, this happen at every sunset, but that’s the one I’ve been watching to for 1 hour and half peeking out from a narrow window of the small attic of my brother’s house.
Once again I was being stuck by narrow spaces but, today, I was feeling free because I had the freedom to look around, to see sky around me.

It’s just a saying to tell “If we let hurry win on the quality of what we do, the result won’t be perfect, and might miss some “important details” “.

Indeed, yesterday night this sentence came up to my mind before going to sleep. I knew I hadn’t been able to dedicate enough time to what I have been studying, therefore I knew that “I needed a LOT OF LUCK to get really high marks”.

At the end. Today I got a good mark but, as thought the previous night, not the aimed and this made me being a little complaining.

Some complaint-results:

Mom and bf said: “It’s good” (When they were students they were both used to really high marks, therefore they understand my bad feeling)

Daddy (he has a degree in physics too) came home and said: “SO?”. I didn’t want to tell him the mark, mom told him it. And he said: “GREAT! Congratulations!”. I started my complaint and he said: “EH? Are you kidding?! Nuclear physics in about 15-18 days and getting that mark is good!”

A friend said:”Hooray!” and then defined me “Miss I-complain-anyway”…

Ok, maybe they are right and “my kittens” are not totally blind. They probably just need powerful glasses!

You may, eventually, take a picture of something of nice that you have the chance to see…

You can do it just for fun or for the personal pleasure to preserve the memory of such a cute thing…

Than can happen that a friend send you a message  via cellphone saying: “Hey! I have just read about this photographic contest… why don’t you try?”

The pictures are already available, you have just to have them printed…why shouldn’t you try? It cost nothing.

And then can happens another pleasant thing, the woman in the shop where you go to have your pictures printed reminds of you because she liked the cat picture. And then, you just have to let your mind fly back to 10 months before, when that woman, about 10years older than you, asked you the permission to see the picture with the black cat…

And she asked you with such a sweet smile and a light in her eyes that are typical of those well-mannered children who ask for the permission of doing something (that, you know, it isn’t bad).
And you cannot stop thinking about the sentence: “[...] unless you turn and become like children,  you will not enter the kingdom of heaven”… and how it can comes true just looking at the Beauty of this world.

And few days later, happens another nice thing… your boyfriend spend a whole afternoon of his life to let you reach the place where you have to leave the pictures for the contest.

And few weeks later, while you are going to get furious because it’s not clear where you have to go to listen to a lecture, your cellphone rings, you don’t know who is calling but you answer… and someone tells you “Are you miss L.?”…and after you confirm your identity he keeps on saying: “I am the president of the E. cultural association, I am calling you to tell you won the first prize…”. At the end of the call you thanks, and then you spend the rest of the morning thinking:”What!? I won something? It’s incredible!”.

And it’s then that all your friends and relatives who knows about the news cannot stop smiling and enjoy the nice event with you!

And if with those money you can finish to pay your iMac to your parents (who paid in advance), if you can contribute to buy a new laptop to share with your boyfriend (laptop for which you were already saving money), if you can buy a little present to the friend who told you about the contest, and if you can give a little help to another one…who is, now, helping you even if he doesn’t know your plans… all with just those 500€…well, trust me, winning becomes just a background of a series of wonderful aspects of your life, as friendship and love. These are all “things” that you cannot put in just a picture with your camera, but that can make you go to sleep smiling.

And if  you won the the same contest that one of your relatives read about, but didn’t want to tell you about it in order to avoid you waste your time with such an useless thing as photography… well, the thing feels a lot nicer! ;D
