I’m not this beautiful and this young but that’s not the point.
The point is that background.
That almost totally black background, that slope, all so not inviting.
A background in contrast with the foreground light, the today like where there is something.
Not much but still something.
This small facing that huge black area.
Only Hope, the light filtering through the leaves, a light coming from above
but still, the black, is there.
It’s Obvious.

ok… all this probably is the side-effect of dealing a whole morning with university bureaucracy… they can take those 100euro extra, I gained a whole hour of “picture taking”.

That’s fact, indeed. Pitch black ahead, bright light now, a light that is about to leave.

This isn’t the best shot taken in almost-whole darkness in the backyard of my country house, but that’s the only one where he isn’t doing funny faces.


I both regret and  love that part of him is out of the frame and that the central area of the picture is just BLACK, but I do love this crazy picture.. hoping he won’t ask me to remove it.

I know it looks like I gave up posting, especially in English language, but a lot of things happened and since most of my american friends now don’t have much time to talk with me, the result is that writing and speaking English is getting more difficult for me… that’s sad, but I hope this won’t be the last word on my “relationship” with this language

I know I could have done a couple of things to take a better shot!

I might have taken the picture more centered on the “candelora”, but how missing the woman at the window?
I should have gone downstairs to take pictures, but how could have I get from there the perspective of “common people at home” that like had the afternoon brighten up by such a gesture of religious devotion? Ok, it’s not the most pious manifestation of devotion (you should have listened to the “curious” music they were playing) but still, it’s a good aspect of the life here in Catania.

And probably I could have done a better work on to get a picture with both the aspects of the “common people at home perspective” and the “woman at the window”, but that’s what I got today… the story looks told anyway ^_^

P.S. I admit, I didn’t want to take care of Saint Agata festivity this year (that means:I didn’t want to go out taking pictures of the festivity)… as you can see my blog fell into a silent period because I want seriously to pass a couple of exams in the following 6 weeks.
Of course, this year, for the first time since I have memory, a candelora passed on the street where I live. Curious coincidence that is making me thinking a lot.

P.P.S. In the following days I might post a few other shots taken this afternoon…. I am still thinking if it’s a good idea or not.
