The shadows tradition

July 2, 2015

Venice trip June 2015 - 28th June 2015

Somewhere in this blog I explained that around January 2013 (period of¬†NYC-NYE trip) I started taking pictures of my+TheWebmaster’s+(relatives’s/friends’s) shadows projected on the ground of the place we are visiting.

There was no reason to not keep the tradition going ahead , therefore last Sunday, at the end of our second trip to Venice me and the webmaster decided to use the nice late afternoon light.

P.S. Tomorrow will be 100 months together. Oops! ūüôā

Passerby

June 23, 2015

This year sunflower season brought nice result, almost overcoming last year absence

Passerby - sunflower season 2015 - 17th june

I’m becoming a passerby for¬†this blog.

That’s not so¬†bad since it’s life calling,
let’s just hope call is for a positive thing.

In a month I might see a pinch of light at the end of a tunnel,
but I have to keep running fast to avoid seeing, for the n-th time, the end of tunnel moving forward.

I was about to trash it

June 15, 2015

Sunflower - 13th June 2015

It wasn’t the picture I was looking for, therefore it deserved to be trashed

Then a shy voice from consciousness background said: “…but I like it”

Probably ¬†that voice is my “fanciullino” (little boy)*

*If you are curious look for Pascoli’s “little boy” or “Eternal Child”
(e.g. around central part of page 11 at this link )

Perpetual discovery

June 8, 2015

Ok, the post title is a bit too pretentious but, let’s just consider the fact that¬†99% of my “beauty hunting” trips took place in Sicily.
Sometimes I re-visit places, 2 or 3 or more times.

Each time there is something different or “new” to see.

Probably I should speak more of an “unseen” that reveals later.

...

What causes this continuos discovery is not known to me.

Maybe the different light?
Maybe it depends on the people around?
Different me?

That and a mixture of something unknown?

Well, definitely it’s something to be grateful for, it goes just 1 step below spending time with good friends ūüôā

Drip

May 20, 2015

“Essere agli sgoccioli”
Literally it¬†means¬†something like “to be at drip”
It’s the Italian way to mean “to be almost over”.
I’m close to the end of something that has taken 3 times the time it was supposed to take,
twice the time it generally takes (to others).

I’m almost done dealing with this stuff. End is in sight¬†if nothing wrong happens.
As always.
Studying physics taught me more about giving up, accepting undesired situations rather than certainty.

In these days I have to record in my mind part of the various efforts that, more or less 100 years ago, physicists made to describe a tiny thing as an Hydrogen atom and how it gives huge troubles to describe a slightly more complex atom as Helium atom.
That second electron gave huge troubles to those guys!

Maybe it’s just my little mind not grasping what it has to be recorded, but while reading these papers, trying to¬†stuck¬†in mind concepts, I have the bizarre feeling that I can almost see those scientists writing papers over papers trying to describe a thing that is extremely simple and extremely complex at the same time.

I found myself wondering if they felt frustrated when things didn’t work or if they smiled at seeing how nature cannot be easily framed. Maybe they all knew both feelings.

Definitely i giggled at imagining them throwing papers in air due to¬†desperation, because “NOTHING WORKS”
Or probably it was just me wanting to throw away my papers.
Who knows

At the end, I see the same feelings swing in the Webmaster and his co-workers in trying to do a description of what they study.
Another tiny thing that matters.

Ok, I mastered at distracting myself with my own thoughts, but it was funny to imagine all of them taking an huge amount of their time trying to describe an apparently simple system.

Here came the regret to not be “enough” to be part of this swing…but as I said, physics taught me giving up.
It’s ok.
At the end, not everyone has to get nut about finding a theoretical model that fits with experimental results, or finding experimental apparatus that sees better how things work.

Assuming that physicists, nowadays, still give more importance to curiosity than to the activity of finding pride-feeding reasons
