It’s a folly

February 18, 2016

They are all right.
It’s crazy.
It’s stupid.
Yet I find intriguing that they ignore the really freaking shade:
all the pro-reasons I can think of, can be cons-reasons as well.
This is what can lead to real folly.

Looks like it’s again one of those “moments” when I can only hang on what, so far, never vanished.

Tiny pale memorandum - Etna January 2016

No, sorry.
It’s not the most beautiful volcano in the universe.
This is just a tiny and pale memorandum.

The baby plumes dance

September 15, 2015

Baby plumes dance - 15th September 2015

In august me and The Webmaster, with the help of my father and The Webmaster’s bro, tried to reproduce the experiment I’m going to talk about in my final essay.
Then the experiment set-up stopped working and in these days I’m trying to create an alternative set up, not a real need for I am seeking more vortex on soap bubbles for a mere personal desire. It’s not still properly working and it might be a little frustrating but yesterday, thanks to a not properly working set-up I could look for a long time at a middle stage of what can be seen with a properly working set-up. That’s the way I discovered how captivating can be the “baby plumes dance”.

Winter time

January 12, 2015

Seagulls, slice of beauty in winter time - 10th January 2015

Winter is coldest time of the year but, if the blessing of having food and a warm house is not enough to be glad…
Winter can also mean

– Days getting longer
I always see as a prelude of spring and summer time

– St. Agatha Festivity
Ok, that’s a special only for people from Catania, sorry
People in NYC might go to NYE to enjoy a great event

– Little trips toward sea to catch seagulls.
Or just to enjoy sea. I often choose trips to the sea as way to cure light sore throat

– If I get lucky and I have time: trip on mt Etna in search of snow pictures
It’s a pearl of Sicily. Should be enough as explanation.

So I guess next fight will take place in a relatively good period that can speak of hope.
Little hope in a little life but it’s something good yet.

Feels like being too busy is best way to not waste time to whine about past mistake and future fear.

Beauty shining in one of the best ways possible

I had little time to take pictures,

but I feel happy for this

means there was a lot to do

Sun and fog

November 18, 2014

Gold and fog - 2nd November 2014

One of two friends who visited Sicily in August showed me some pictures he took here and some of the last days pictures were with crazy colors

I asked to my friend why he gave that look for shot and he said that he had been confused by sky color…like he thought it was not possible it was so blue.

We laughed about the fact that his “yankee” eyes got confused by sicilian summer sun light.

Few week later we laughed about the fact my “sicilian” eyes had been confused by fog.

He didn’t exactly said “Revenge!” but well, I would not be surprised or angry to find out he thought  that
🙂

Above I posted one of the “saved” shots, but I had to trash some of the pictures I have taken on november 2nd because it took me a few shots to start adapting to a totally new environment for me
(despite I didn’t have to cross an ocean and half Europe to find it)

Maybe we are just a couple of mediocre pseudo-photographers but, beyond the laugh:
I guess all this can be seen as an interesting “proof” of the fact that it’s not the camera that do most of the job.
and…
if your ego can stand it
It’s true, you are free to choose how to tell reality through photography, but till the point reality allows it.

You can’t find sun in fog dense enough to hide what is few meters away from you.

Yet, you can choose to be extremely free and choose to give up your plans and adapt to reality.
So far it always lead me to discover amazing slice of Beauty.

About time tears and leaving your ground states

October 18, 2014

I might lack of creativity but that’s exactly what I thought when I saw this:

In the "Grotta dei Ladroni" on mt Etna - 18th October 2014

Picture was taken in the “Grotta dei ladroni” (Cave of thieves) on Mt. Etna.
Of course.

What’s behind the picture that cannot be displayed there?

Finding Beauty often requires more than just the “seeking and taking the best picture you can take” effort.
It wants you to overcome your (toxic) “ground states” *.

I woke up in the ground state of “mere laziness”. Tired I wasn’t even sure I wanted to leave home.
I wasn’t sure if bringing my camera but  saw a blue skye and well… “if you go on mt.Etna, you must be dumb to leave your camera at home”

When out, first action was to go to our favorite shop (Servolare) of clothing and other tools for adventurous souls.
(or, in my case, wishing-I-were adventurous soul)

Once I was at the shop, I decide to overcome my ground state of shy lady
(I confess, it is easy because guys running that shop are super kind people)
and I asked a question to know more about amazing places I could visit for picture taking.

The young man, victim of my questions, answered in a very kind way and, out of the blue, he added an advice/information:
“There is a cave on the way to the place you want to visit”

YAY!
Day hardly could have been nicer.

So yes, today Beauty revealed at its best

*Forgive me, that’s a mere side-effect of studying quantum mechanics, if you don’t know what ground state means just click here

A place where…

July 16, 2014

Castelmola (ME) - 16th July 2014

entertainment features are not necessary.

That’s Sicily,

too.

You just have to choose a nice spot and contemplate Beauty shining at its best.

You can do it with friends and family or you can just sit alone and enjoy the show.

Or you need a broken laptop and closest place where you can have it fixed is 50km away from your hometown 🙂

Mt Etna show time

June 16, 2014

Yesterday (June 15th) someone wanted to display some extra beauty

Mt. Etna activity 15-16th June 2014

Picture taken from Catania

I am not sure if I love more the show or the fact that my father came out with me to take pictures and was suggesting shooting settings.

We both acted as we were little kids and as we had never seen Mt. Etna activity before
