Testing the new “baby”

September 27, 2015

On Saturday I bought a new camera
Unfortunately I had to change brand. Fortunately I have great support from those few ones close to me.

I am doing a couple of easy tests in these hours, but I can’t do as much as I wished since graduation day is close

First tests with new camera

I think I’ll get the real fun for the after graduation “trip”.

More soon.

Passerby

June 23, 2015

This year sunflower season brought nice result, almost overcoming last year absence

Passerby - sunflower season 2015 - 17th june

I’m becoming a passerby for this blog.

That’s not so bad since it’s life calling,
let’s just hope call is for a positive thing.

In a month I might see a pinch of light at the end of a tunnel,
but I have to keep running fast to avoid seeing, for the n-th time, the end of tunnel moving forward.

It’s a nice day to bloom :)

May 12, 2015

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Probably it’s a common condition.
Living through the different tasks, planning for future and yet part of mind is elaborating information.

These months are going, probably, of some big change.
Yet I find myself lost in thinking about electromagnetic waves, love, eternity and so.

Today I exposed this raw thought to the Webmaster. I was sure he would have consider it the nth weirdness of mine, instead he liked it.
I guess I have to consider it as a blessing, a flavour of love.

The above orchid?
Oh well, it’s the nth orchid that had to last only 1 years instead this is the 8th year it’s blooming.
One of the sweetest present I received from The Webmaster.

It’s nice that the first flower decided to bloom around today.

Long-lasting “about to happen”

It’s curious how silly little details seem summarising years of feelings

Kind craziness and 1mm that worths a lens

February 21, 2015

I know the blessing of having some friends, even if it’s hard to stand me, I admit.

One of these friends is crazy enough that decided to lend me his 7 years old camera (that still has a great value),
apparently I can use it till the day I will figure out what camera I want to buy (I hope by the end of the year if not earlier).

Looks like a condition of the rent is to go back to USA, means I have to visit Vermont…
it doesn’t look like a bad condition.
😀

Camera arrived without lens because friend needs old ones for his new camera, and I thought I was going to use my father’s lens.
Stupid me!
I didn’t check flange focal distance till last moment, and for a “mere” 1mm there was no way I could have used my father’s lens on friend’s camera.
To be more clear, I could use father’s lens but I would have to buy adapter that has lenses that will effect image quality and, well…just no!.
Slightly sad and A LOT mad at me I started wondering what to do.
Friend offered to ship an old lens he his not using, but he had been already too generous …I wanted to find alternative solution.

What to do?
I surfed through web to look for cheap lenses, but the cheap ones are “meh”-lenses and still not that cheap…especially if I’ll buy a camera of brand that is not the same lens brand.
I then decided to opt for “old” style lenses that is easier to place on digital camera of different brands.

I found an used lens, in shop in Turin, that costs more than the cheap lenses but definitely worths more and I am sure I can use at least on old digital camera I have already.
This lens is about my age, or maybe a few years younger.

I guess that’s why now I am walking around with two cameras, mine and friend’s camera…and I end up taking pictures I didn’t even consider to think about but let’s start showing a picture that to one of my ever first subjects

Getting closer to rain drops

July 17, 2014

I love rain drops,

it’s like discovering new little hidden worlds,

or better, little subsets of our world

Pomelia and rain drops - 17th July 2014

Just a short technical note:
I guess my new compact camera macro function is worth the money I spent for the camera.

Yet, I’m a little annoyed I cannot decide shutter speed and aperture, especially in macro mode, but well post editing helps with fixing lights a little.

A shade of fatherhood

June 5, 2014

Once my mother told me “Most men want a son but when they have a daughter, they melt” Proof? Pictures/video quantity generally increases, for example. No matter if girl is child number 3 or 4 or more, melting process starts.

I wonder if it ever ends

Sicilian fathers are told to be among the most jealous of their daughters. My daddy never showed up with a lupara when my boyfriend comes to pick me to go out for the evening, but well, I guess that’s just because we have no guns and this is not daddy’s style to display care for his kids

Definitely, one of the most beautiful things in the world is the smile of a father looking at his daughter, especially grown up daughter. No matter how ugly father (and daughter) are, seeing such a smile means being witness of a show that speaks of beauty at its best. Well, mentally sane fathers. There are fathers who hurt their children or desert them. Fortunately in this case there might be an uncle or a family friend around that “adopts” deserted kids (just staying in the area of what I’ve seen with my own eyes)

Getting back to mentally sane fathers.

I think that my father melting process is still on: it is at least the second birthday in a row that my father bring me an orchid plant for my birthday. I still have the last year one, but it doesn’t metter

It’s always possible to find room for beauty

Unstable

April 17, 2014

Weather is crazy.

Rain clouds and sun seem dancing on the notes of an endless music

They are alternating each other more than once in a few hours

Somehow mood is following this restless rhythm

Camera is turned off and I’ve no idea if I’ll ever turn it on again in the next weeks, maybe even months

If camera will kept off for this long I fear I can say “darkness is winning” or worse “darkness won”.

I’m trying to organise a taking picture day but I might fail…no time, even less energies

I’ve some pictures taken about 2 weeks ago that might be posted but little will to take care of them too

So, even if I know well that the thought”I’ll turn off blog” often triggers an avalanche of new pictures

I might quit activity for a while

Willy Bit?

I have a few of shots already baked and almost ready to be published but we’ll see.
Definitely not before the end of April.

Well.

It’s time to drop a (hopefully not) last slice of Beauty I found

Rain drops on rose and rose bud - 5th April 2014 (pseudo-HDR)

Have a peaceful Easter
