It’s pleasant to be wrong (sometimes)

November 2, 2015

ELP_1488_89_90_tmSITE

I started the systematic editing of the pictures I took so far
I thought I had found less.
I am glad that looks like I was pretty wrong

(even if…)

Last from trip up on mt Etna

March 23, 2015

NKT_0196-8tmSITE - 14th March 2015

The little sunset show on Mt Etna (at around 1700 meters above sea level) of 14th March 2015.

It’s an HDR picture. I have to say it, even if I generally try not to oversaturate or push too much the effect.
Probably in this specific case it’s more a HDR-test picture since I have never taken pictures in similar situations before that day.

Why trying HDR on snow at sunset?
My goal is to get as close as possible to what I saw and sometimes,
especially when there is a huge difference of darks and lights,
eyes can see more than what can be recorded in a single shot.
At least, that’s what I experienced so far.

Am I saying that what I saw looked exactly that way?

No, especially some snow areas are not, I think I can guess what caused this anomaly, will try to fix another day.
Yet, for this frame or reality an HDR seemed to tell in a better way the Beauty I saw
At the end, I am not taking pictures to report a crime but to remember the wonder of that moment.

Why last shot?
I have too much to do to publish so I will keep editing in random moments while trying to achieve other life goals.
Yes,  during the little free time I have in the coming weeks/month I prefer taking new pictures or complete a picture editing work for a friend instead of posting most of the “old” ones.

Max 2-3 shots per trip goes online the rest can wait to be shared.

Lonely tree

Tree on Mt Etna - 10th August 2014

Editing picture of the August vacation of my friend from Tuscany,
I know, I’m super late but he knew that I was going to be super busy.

In the picture you can see a tree on the path we walked along on mt Etna.

Most of the pictures I’ve been editing in the last weeks are mainly pictures of friends who prefer not to appear online, therefore I have little to share.

Yet the shots that just tell about the beauty we saw might be shared,
if I want and well… until plan of super big changes for this site stay in the just-an-idea-dimension

The giant pink cupcake

January 3, 2015

Ok maybe that’s silly. Not maybe. It is.
In the last 3 days we tried (me and The Webmaster) to catch “giant pink cupcake” version of mt. Etna
Day 1. I was a little late and there was a giant cloud on the west that stole the sunset light to mt Etna
Day 2. I was not that late but Mt Etna smoke was thrown westward by wind, and well, see Day 1 situation.
Day 3. I was in time, there were no clouds but a lot of snow was already melted so not exactly the pink cupcake effect I was looking for

Etna at sunset - 3rd January 2014

Yet I guess I can be content

We sounded like a joke

November 19, 2014

A seminarist, a nuclear physicist and a (pseudo)photographer

visited Sicily in August 2014.

The seminarist is a friend from Tuscany, the nuclear physicist is The Webmaster, no need to tell who is the third character

A day, the three (yes, we) went to Agrigento, Sicily.
I won’t bother you with details but well, at the end of the Agrigento trip the three were reaching the car while chatting about, well whatever runs between random chat and theology…softly accusing the (pseudo)photographer to ask crazy questions

The pseudo-photographer at a certain point stopped,
turned around and took a picture

The other two wondered what was the reason,
one wondered if the pseudo-photographer had eyes in the back of her head

Mystery is still unsolved

Agrigento Valle dei Templi - 11th August 2014

Let’s now pretend I’m not missing summer time…

Sicily: sea, sand and sun shining in a blue sky, or…

September 15, 2014

you can go jumping on a crater of mt Etna during a cloudy afternoon

View on Mt Etna from Crateri Silvestri - August 2014

Sicily offers cookies of all tastes, all packed in a island that covers, if I’m not wrong, a surface as big as Vermont.
Good for me when I end up to be “trapped” in Beauty cell

The picture of this post was taken on August 28th from the tip of  highest of Crateri Silvestri.
Crateri silvestri is the easiest place to visit, a little mainstream but if you are not used to hiking and you have little time (like me) it is a good place to feed eyes.
Now I’m aiming for something new/more but this is another story.

I took the above picture in the attempt to just collect the crazy set of colours that mt Etna offers in that spot

Today I have decided to edit and share this image because it perfectly fits with these days mood

I’m getting close to a big crisis* period and mood is a little darker than usual but yet there are some spots of crazy colours

Well, apparently dark mood is not against Beauty,
maybe it just make the seeking more difficult and maybe result a little less relaxing
Maybe real test would be taking pictures, but I have to wait a week at least.

We’ll see

*maybe you want to check etymology of the word crisis

Ladybug on tree

Lady Bug on tree - 21st April 2014

Playing with “old” pictures while waiting for the moment I can get back to picture taking
Ignoring Willy Bit Adventures pictures I don’t go for pictures hunting since April 21st

Yeah, it’s fun to plan my shots as I do with Willy Bit’s Adventures pictures, there is room for surprise even in that situation, but I guess I love much more just going out and wait for reality to surprise me

Maybe I’m just being lazy and dumb

We’ll see

Unstable

April 17, 2014

Weather is crazy.

Rain clouds and sun seem dancing on the notes of an endless music

They are alternating each other more than once in a few hours

Somehow mood is following this restless rhythm

Camera is turned off and I’ve no idea if I’ll ever turn it on again in the next weeks, maybe even months

If camera will kept off for this long I fear I can say “darkness is winning” or worse “darkness won”.

I’m trying to organise a taking picture day but I might fail…no time, even less energies

I’ve some pictures taken about 2 weeks ago that might be posted but little will to take care of them too

So, even if I know well that the thought”I’ll turn off blog” often triggers an avalanche of new pictures

I might quit activity for a while

Willy Bit?

I have a few of shots already baked and almost ready to be published but we’ll see.
Definitely not before the end of April.

Well.

It’s time to drop a (hopefully not) last slice of Beauty I found

Rain drops on rose and rose bud - 5th April 2014 (pseudo-HDR)

Have a peaceful Easter
