A common picture for a common life

June 22, 2010

This really “crowded” orchid is a present I was given by the webmaster.
He gave me it saying “I’m sorry”, the day after we had a terrible argument. It was early June 2008.
We were both so upset and frustrated that probably we both thought we were going to break up.
A friend of mine, who lives in Texas, helped me to calm down and this made me finding the strength to overcome that problem.

This is the 3rd year the orchid is making flowers.
Till last year it did flower along a vertical branch, that died and it made growing this horizontal one. It’s probably due to the fact that the plant gets sun mainly from that direction.

I love this year “flowers configuration”, especially because there is JUST ONE orchid differently oriented (rotated of about 90 degree on the right).
It makes me smile because it seems it didn’t want to be hidden by other orchids and it’s seeking for more light.

On the right there is the “dead body” of my very first orchid that I bought for my 18th birthday and did flower for 5 years. It’s dead now.

That’s what I think when I look at this plants, the little story of the last years of my life.
A common life of a constant desire of eternal Love and Beauty.

“Don’t give up” ( ? )

June 3, 2010

When I woke up yesterday morning the sky was “cloud free”, but an hour later it was filled with clouds… I didn’t care and I decided to go out as planned.
I went with the webmaster to my country house, hoping for finding some butterflies but there were no butterflies and clouds hided the sun for most of the time.
I was getting ready to go away, upset because I had taken no pictures, and there was a curious green animal on my stuff…

If I thought this situation might have a meaning, I would think it can means something like: “Don’t give up!”.
If …

Java the cat

June 1, 2010

My brother decided to call the little cat “Java”. Any idea of which might be my brother’s “job area”? ;)
Since she is my brother’s cat and I hadn’t other, computer science related, ideas for a name she will be Java (or JV) for the rest of her days.

She tends to be pretty active when old by my brother or by the webmaster.

and at times she seems doing her best to be definitely not collaborative…

Sweet, crazy little cat.

On the contrary in picture taken by the webmaster, when it’s me holding Java, she is often extremely relaxed. I probably caress her too much, but I love to make her purring :)

The webmaster says she’s the cat version of me.
Shy, cuddle lover, able to be extremely noisy or silent when she decides to (= not in the proper moments).
She is pretty stubborn, sweet and funny and, even the hair color is similar: black looking, but actually brown.
His words!

I just know it had been amazing to have her sleeping on my stomach while organizing the travel to go to the Meeting of Rimini with the webmaster (my boyfriend) on my side.
A little dream that came (partially) true.

We’ll see.

New desktop

May 26, 2010

Probably not among the best pictures I’ve ever taken but that’s what I’ve chosen for my iMac desktop

and that’s what is shown as tablet pc desktop

The thoughts that comes at looking at these pictures are a lot, but I don’t feel like sharing them in written form.

You can catch them from the pictures, and if you cannot catch them, you can always find your own thoughts.

Have a nice everything :)

I wish I were able to fly

May 23, 2010

Yesterday afternoon while I was walking with the webmaster we saw a cat trying to catch an European Magpie (whose Sicilian name is way more funny!)

The cat was on a wall and the bird on the beside tree “twittering” toward the cat.
It sounded like the bird was mocking the cat.

The magpie flew to a lower branch, so the cat jumped and tried to climb up the tree to reach the bird.

Then, the magpie flew away on a much higher branch, but the cat kept on looking at it.

I took out my camera while insulting myself to have lost the action I’ve just tried to describe with words.

I got closer to the cat and the webmaster made a noise to make the cat turning toward me. That’s what I caught:

It looked like the cat was thinking “I wish I were able to fly”.

Despite I am glad it didn’t catch the bird (I like those birds) I thought: “Yeah, I wish I were able to fly too…”

Friday cat

May 21, 2010

At 1am a little kitty decided to show up in the building parking park.

My brother and I tried to take it, because my brother wanted to bring it at his home (where he has a little garden) and take care of it.

Apparently  the kitty didn’t enjoy our idea so I guess we just got to make it feeling hunted.

It kept on hiding inside, behind or under cars till, at 2 am, we gave up and let it at peace.

In the early afternoon it came back.
A young woman living in this building left some food for it.
I was glad of this because while the kitty was eating I have the chance to take some pictures.

As always, if I start taking picture of something people around becomes curious and at times it isn’t that good.

Indeed, I guess that if you are kitty and you are surrounded by 4 people you’ll start getting really irritated…

However, it is still a little cute kitty that gets scared easily:

I’m pretty sure it will always find food here and I think this is at least a good thing…

Hoping well for it.

News from caterpillar’s world

May 16, 2010

Someone asked me to write updates about the little guy I found a few weeks ago on my balcony.

The first update I must write is that the free climber had been joined by another little guy, I think of the same kind.
This second little guy is a kind of unwise gentleman (or gentlecaterpillar?), differently from the free climber it decided that it was worth trying to get inside the building from the main door.
This means that a week ago I found it in the hall running (they do run!) toward the stairs.
I cannot avoid appreciating the well mannered little guy, but it’s still pretty unwise to get INSIDE the building where (also) live people that think that what kills the plants in the building isn’t isn’t the lack of water, they think that these little guy are the plants killers…

The second news is that the webmaster bought a old little fish tank he had. We gave them a bigger house.

One of the 2 guys, dunno if it’s the free climber or the unwise gentlecaterpillar spends most of its day trying to climb the smooth walls of their new house…

The other one, probably a little wiser, thought well to start its metamorphosis to become a butterfly/moth:

At least, I think this is a cocoon.

Isn’t this cool?! :)

Just updates

May 11, 2010

iMac is giving problems again and I can’t figure out the reason.

To avoid loosing all my works I did a backup copy on an external HD. Last time I did a backup was October 2009… it needed to be done. I had problems in saving pictures too! It really bothered me! If this problem won’t be solved soon I’ll go the mac company and bite someone! Gee! I paid 2000€ and after 2 years it’s acting so?! Are you kidding or what?!

While saving all the pictures I’ve realized how messy is the whole folder and how messy and “old” are the galleries on my site. Beside I planned a few changes for the site that involves different aspects of it.

This means that “a picture a day project” will be different for a few weeks, I am no longer taking a picture a day,  but I’ll try uploading a new picture everyday. This means that at first I’ll show one by one all the pictures I’ve taken on Sunday (and this might take a week or so) and i’ll keep on doing this even if I go out taking pictures and there are several good ones.
You really will see just a picture a day and, if all the recent shots are over and I still need having time to do other thing, I’ll start showing all “old shots” that are still waiting to be considered…

Free Snail

May 9, 2010

Do you remember the “Christmas snail”?
That sometimes had a walk on my hands?

Today it came with us to the house where my brother lives, all around the house there is a little yard. I left the snail on an orange tree (I think it was an orange tree…).

Hope it will survive :)

I’ve taken several pictures today, I think I’ll publish them tomorrow.
