Relaxing soap bubbles, even if…

May 6, 2010

Making soap bubbles and taking pictures of them is a great way to relax and today i needed to.

They are captivating…

and still surprise me with unexpected colors

Possible colors, I know, but not that common…

Today I tried to use a straw to make soap bubble.

This instrument is, first of all “not pink”, and this is good! Second it makes possible having a better control of the “bubble parameters”

There’s just one problem, if you get distracted and you don’t coordinate breath in the proper way, you might end up sucking soap instead of blowing a bubble…

Sigh!

Fortunately this mistake hurts only my pride and nothing else.

Just wondering, are kids smarter than me (it’s pretty possible) or generally it’s better to make them using a blower instead of the straw?

I’ve taken other pictures but I’m too lazy and sleepy to publish them.

Have a great night!

All-time low

April 26, 2010

Creepy, awful day today!

I have not almost taken the today picture just because my ability to trust mankind (and my cognitive skills about people)  is at its an all-time low.

But then, I said to myself: “F**k! I won’t let darkness overcome everything”.

I probably let the dark thoughts influence the picture, the attempt of HDR with a soap bubble, but I don’t dislike the result and I love the fact that the lens i kinda clear.

The girl in the glass

April 22, 2010

Sometimes I feel that my lack in “artistic field” is something of terrible, especially when I think that I probably don’t have those skills you can gain and improve in art school.

I do my best to learn something by myself, but I don’t think I’m doing a great job… as a consequence when I take pictures I do my best to get something nice and/or interesting.

The “I miss something” feeling increase when I’ve to edit a picture, and think about the light… but again, I can’t do much so I just follow my instinct and search the best combination to my eyes.

In this constant search of Beauty, at times, happens that in the picture I find something “new” that looks “old”.

For example, this detail in the glass I use every day.
I’ve been looking at its light games many time in these last months and, today, after lunch, I’ve decided to take a picture of it because my attention was attracted to it . I can’t say what it was. I’ve just taken the picture as well as I could.

While I was editing the picture lights, to make it looking “nicer”, here appears the girl.

The girl with the pony tail who is running with wide-opened arms, as she has just seen someone she loves and hadn’t met for a very long time.

As soon as I understood what I was looking at, I felt like I’ve already noticed this detail but not in a conscious way, indeed, to be honest, I wasn’t able to see it when I was taking the picture.

No, there was no alcoholic drink in my glass and I don’t assume drugs, it’s just my imagination mixed with a little of “luck”. :)

____

Update. Daddy saw a girl doing an athletic active like “pole vault” or “high jump”. Like he saw the pony tail, the head, the arms and the chest oriented like I thought. While the lines under the “arm” on the right, should be the legs oriented toward the sky while the girl is falling down. :)

Is that one of the…

April 21, 2010

Any relative: “Is that one of the…”

Me: “Yep, one of the flower we have on the balcony.”

his/her/their answer: “Ah!”

How I love when this happens! :)

Big day today because I woke up at 7:20 am and it’s 8:23 pm and I still didn’t fall asleep.

Big day today even for this little 3 0f 8 planted-“guys” are already coming out…

Considering I planted those sunflower seeds on April 15th, seems cool, eh?!

Out of focus

April 17, 2010

Today I went with the webmaster (who seems to hate to be a subject of my pictures…) to a new mall that opened not long ago.

From most of the car park area

it’s possible to see can see the airport runway

I’ve been looking at airplanes taking off and taking some pictures around for several minutes.

I  loved to just look at the airport and dreaming of traveling too,

but, when the webmaster made me notice what time it was, I had to come back to real life and take the way to go back home.

Who knows, maybe this summer, or the next spring I’ll travel a little.

It’s still here

April 12, 2010

The little snail that came on the Christmas Eve, is still here:

On an hand I hope to free it soon, I just have to my brother’s house or to the family’s country house.

On the other hand I love to have my hand tickled by this little snail.

Today I’ve gone out with the webmaster to look for a book, but the book shop closed an hour earlier today. Sigh!

We  have decided to have a walk and I’ve taken this picture on our way back home.

When daddy is right, he is right!

March 21, 2010

Daddy: “I want to see what kind of pictures of the stars it’s possible to take with the new camera”

Me (half asleep): “Hm? Eh?! Ah, I don’t think it’s that better than the old one in this kind of pictures”.

“But it has a more sensitive sensor…”

“Well but stars are small, little…”

“I’m curious”

“Ok, take the camera”.

“… but I don’t know how to use it…”

Sigh!

“You taught me how to use electronic stuff you can understand how to use it”.

“I don’t have much time”

“Ok. What do you need to know?”

“How to set it…”

“If I set it and you use it?”

“OK!”

“You need the tele lens”.

“No, it’s just a test I don’t need the lens…”

“stars are small objects you need to zoom a little”

“Is it f.28?”

“Yeah, the tele at it’s minum, 50 mm, is a 2.8, instead the wideangle at 54 mm is f 3.5 and…”

“ok, ok…”

“and take the tripod”.

“Ok!”.

I changed the lenses, set the camera and give it to daddy. A few minutes later he came back home complaining about the focus,  I set the focus on just-manual and give the camera back to daddy.

After a few minutes I decided to see what was happening because he was taking too long to take a simple picture test.

What’s wrong?

Daddy mumbles something.

I got close and I understood he couldn’t see well the image, I showed him that he could use the monitor instead of the viewfinder…

“Oh! Finally”

“Wow! You can really see the stars even with these settings. COOL!”

We have been outside for 40 minutes playing with the camera settings and enjoying my little tele lens.

I could have avoided to tell the whole story, but I think it was too nice to not be told! :)

It’s a part of Orion constellation. Of course seen large is much better and at the end I “just” have a 50-200 mm lens that is good but surely not the best lens available in the world.

I started thinking about buying something to adapt my camera to one of our telescopes even if daddy keeps on saying that they are not good telescopes.

Daddy was right, I love when he proves me that I’m wrong being patient and nice :)
