St.Agata 2016

St. Agata 2016

Just a sample of what I’ve seen, with a cute shade of “modern”.
A few years ago there were not so many screens, yet I find it nice.
A selfie forces people to stay with their back at the show they want to use as “background for ego”
During the festival days I saw almost no one taking selfie.
At least if St.Agata was close 😉

They looked smaller!

November 22, 2014

Before sharing pictures with everyone I tend to share a few shots with close friends and family.

In the last days I shared a lot of tree pictures and when, finally, I shared a picture of a tree with nearby a person a friend said “I though those trees were smaller”

It was an awaking comment for me!

Birch wood, Monti Sartorius - 16th November 2014

I do many many mistakes when I take a picture, but the most common is forgetting that sometimes people appreciate being able to understand actual size of what they are looking at.

I generally love the fact that with a picture you can make look giant as little as  a flea, and reverse way…but I have to be honest, my first thought when I take picture is rarely “let’s let people understand actual size of what it is in front of me”

Yet, sometimes is good to make a picture talk a bit more and say something about sizes too.

So I guess I have to say an huge thank you to my friend who reminded me about an aspect of reality,
and a thank you to that group of people who was leaving Monti Sartorius area when I was just arrived.

Unless you think they are very small people or very big giants,
this image should offer a sense of the size of a part of the spot on mt Etna I enjoyed during my last two half-a-day-long trips

Intersection of space-time subspaces

October 3, 2014

Intersection of space-time subsets - 12th August 2014 (in Palermo)

I’m a poet…
probably this is a side effect of arguing with Quantum Mechanics,

I was in Palermo when I saw this moment  and I thought
“funny, looks like in every section of what is in front of me time runs  at different speed”.

I wonder if I need a new brain, mine sounds “burned”.

Enthusiasm

little boy fishing - 26th July 2014

Ok, maybe this is not healthy to fish there but it was amazing to see this little man.

He didn’t look to be more than 7-8 years old

He was dealing with that fishing rod
It seemed like it was his first time or one of first time he was using that tool.

A little boy jumping back and forth from beach to the sea.
He had such a big smile, proud like few can be

He was so applied to what he was doing that even his toes seemed focused on the act of fishing.

It felt like looking at something that is about to bloom, to start, but you have still to wait.

Trying, failing and starting over again.

Moment of struggling alternated with some moment of elegance,
probably the latest were the steps that made theory turning into practical action.

Learning with enthusiasm, at its best.

NYC Jan 2013: Staten Island Station

October 4, 2013

(if I’m not wrong)

NYC Jan 2013: Staten Island Station
I already know some friends reaction that would be something like: Do you still have NYC pictures to publish?
Sure, even some unedited pictures too.

I wonder if I should force myself to the 10 pictures limit.
Well, ok, 100.
I might be forced to rise quality this way.
Or maybe not.
No, maybe this is not a good idea.

I’ll keep my “let’s do your best and full stop”.

Today has been a crappy day.
Leg and head pain and the say goodbye to the webmaster moment…
I decided I had to work on picture taken on Sunday at the Forre Laviche del Simeto, where my camera displayed the warning message of “it’s too hot to work”.
At recalling my camera complaint i thought it would have made sense publishing a picture taken in NYC, a picture showing people in winter clothes.

It’s logical!

and it’s getting cold too quickly

Serenity

September 3, 2013

NY Encounter 2013: Closing night

It’s something I always lack of and always look for

Especially in periods like this, when I have to postpone everything for the nth time.
I feel like someone who is trying to run away from something and falls down on floor, gets up and rushes steps to overcome delay, failing.

In this process I end up hating even my pictures.

No, i don’t hate how they look like, I hate having taken those because, I tell myself, “If I hadn’t wasted time with photography…”

but, then again, only thing that calms me down is taking picture or working on older pictures.

To go ahead I need, as everyone else, the serenity that only who and what we love can give

I am slow, I need my time but at least, I can still see Beauty shining… or I know what to look at to remind myself that, despite all, there is Beauty.

Why the above picture of a musician during the Closing Night of the NY Encounter 2013?

Because it always made me thought of the calm and elegant joy that you can find at doing what you most love doing.

Vendicari 2013: the beach area

September 1, 2013

That place is curious.

On a side you have the marshes where you can see several birds

On the other side the old buildings ruins (some new, some rather old) and then the beach

Here is probably one of the oldest game ever.
A father, an uncle or any reliable adult receiving the request from a kid to be raised from water and then:
“Ready?”
“Yes”
“1, 2, 3”

jump

and splash!

Funny how I was visiting the old building close to the beach and recognized the typical yells of this game.

Often ears help to take pictures 🙂

NYC Jan2013: People in transit

August 13, 2013

NYC Jan2013:People in transit
These days are again days of attempt to clean up everything in my room, computer and studies

So I had a little time to go ahead  with my work on NYC pictures, even if it’s not over yet.

Today i wanted to post the above picture but I didn’t know what to write so I asked to the webmaster if he has any idea

His answer:
“Staten Island ferry station: people in transit”

How I love physicists and mathematicians: ask them to comment something, they go straight to the definition of that thing.
No useless words or concept, no extra data that allow misunderstanding

😎

Not a great technique, though
