Winter time

January 12, 2015

Seagulls, slice of beauty in winter time - 10th January 2015

Winter is coldest time of the year but, if the blessing of having food and a warm house is not enough to be glad…
Winter can also mean

– Days getting longer
I always see as a prelude of spring and summer time

– St. Agatha Festivity
Ok, that’s a special only for people from Catania, sorry
People in NYC might go to NYE to enjoy a great event

– Little trips toward sea to catch seagulls.
Or just to enjoy sea. I often choose trips to the sea as way to cure light sore throat

– If I get lucky and I have time: trip on mt Etna in search of snow pictures
It’s a pearl of Sicily. Should be enough as explanation.

So I guess next fight will take place in a relatively good period that can speak of hope.
Little hope in a little life but it’s something good yet.

Feels like being too busy is best way to not waste time to whine about past mistake and future fear.

Do you have black and white pictures?

November 13, 2014

A friend has a project and asked if I can afford a b&w picture for a project she is developing

I told her I have few b&w shots since I often take pictures to thing that in b&w would loose part of their beauty

Yet, I tried to create some b&w images out of pictures I had…doing so I discovered some “forgot” shots that were waiting for being edited

It had been a nice surfing through the archive moment.

When Sicily bores to death

October 17, 2014

Well, not exactly but I laughed at myself while taking this picture
I was in Castel Mola on the stairs that lead to a castle ruins,
then I saw something that trigger silly mood

I started jumping around repeating: “Postcard! Postcard!”

Took a postcard-like picture

Boring Sicily (Ironically) - 7th October 2014

Laughing

Loudly laughing

Then I walked away saying

“Well, I just gained my room in the hell for photographers”

Enthusiasm

July 26, 2014

little boy fishing - 26th July 2014

Ok, maybe this is not healthy to fish there but it was amazing to see this little man.

He didn’t look to be more than 7-8 years old

He was dealing with that fishing rod
It seemed like it was his first time or one of first time he was using that tool.

A little boy jumping back and forth from beach to the sea.
He had such a big smile, proud like few can be

He was so applied to what he was doing that even his toes seemed focused on the act of fishing.

It felt like looking at something that is about to bloom, to start, but you have still to wait.

Trying, failing and starting over again.

Moment of struggling alternated with some moment of elegance,
probably the latest were the steps that made theory turning into practical action.

Learning with enthusiasm, at its best.

A place where…

July 16, 2014

Castelmola (ME) - 16th July 2014

entertainment features are not necessary.

That’s Sicily,

too.

You just have to choose a nice spot and contemplate Beauty shining at its best.

You can do it with friends and family or you can just sit alone and enjoy the show.

Or you need a broken laptop and closest place where you can have it fixed is 50km away from your hometown 🙂

Seagull - 26th May 2014

I guess that the yellow-legged gulls deserve the Italian name “gabbiano reale” (regal/royal seagull)

Little victory

March 16, 2014

Capo Mulini, Sicily - 16th March 2014

Another little trip

This time a “new” spot for picture taking.

A corner in Capo Mulini

I have a cramp, while walking on rock to find a nice point of view I get a cramp.
What now? Well, ignore the light pain and go ahead with the idea

The idea is simple: taking a picture with the longest exposure time possible,
rough sea means running drops and this generally leads to interesting results

1/20 of a second longest time possible, without adding a dark filter  lens to the polarizing filter
I have no tripod.
1/20 is generally not a problem to stay still enough to get a nice picture but silly leg and a no tripod made me thinks that all attempts lead to no results.

Instead, a few hours later, I find out it went even better than hoped.

Unimportant little result, but it felt like a victory!

Sunset, clouds and sea - 7th March 2014

I go to the place from which I can see it when I can’t stay home and have no will to go to university

Despite situation is not the most pleasant, it is lovely to study there and take some breaks to contemplate beauty.

Today weather wasn’t the most lovely possible but somehow it was relaxing to observe it
