Pleasant “problems”

December 16, 2010

In these “vacations” weeks I’ll have to deal with a lot of picture I’ve taken and never edited,

and with the even bigger ammount of pictures I’ve downloaded on my computerwithout following an order… this  happens since March, and now I’ve a folder of about 15,ooo items that i’ve to clean up.

These are the pleasant “problems” of my life… not bad at all! ^_^

Blowing…

May 18, 2010

Picture taken while the webmaster was blowing a bubble merged with another one. He says he can see a frog in the middle  of the pictures… Have I to get worried for his mental health?

The violet status

May 17, 2010

This picture (1 week old) is one of the first pictures that catches what I call the “violet status”. This bubble status is one of the very first moment in a soap bubble life.

Violet as all other colors are shown due to the intereference and reflection of light with the soap film. This cause that initially it shows violet/blue reflection, after comes all the colors in the spectrum sequence, till ending up with a golden yellow.

Therefore, the violet color is visible only soon after you’ve blown the bubble… and if you blow the bubble and then you’ve to take the camera and set the focus you might loose the moment when that color is shown.

Well,  another cause of the different colors shown in the pictures is probably different inclination of those “bubble walls”, but I surely don’t want to write a scientific post at the moment. I was just giving a general explanation.

There is a lot to know about soap bubbles (seems strange but this is true) and I’m still at a very starting point.

Green

May 8, 2010

Soon after I’ve taken this picture I’ve decided to go out on the balcony. I wanted to try getting another “mainly-one-color” picture but, a sta away from the window something happens.

THAT something that I had been able to avoid for years: MY camera has fallen off, badly hitting the floor. Not happy of this part I’ve poured the bubble solution on the just-fallen-camera.

I don’t want to waste your time telling you the details sequence of events. Just know:

a) For the hit the lens stuck (I were unable to change focal length), but daddy made it work again.

b)  At the moment, in some points the camera feels like a partially licked candy.  I’ll keep on cleaning it.

c) I really felt the desire to just sit on the floor and start crying.

Fortunately everything is still working well and i didn’t shed a tear.

I think I can say this is happy ending story. At least!

Next time, I won’t forget wearing the neck strap (something that I usually wear because I know myself) and surely  while I’m holding my camera I’ll avoid holding anything else with the other hand… for being in a hurry I have been absentminded and I wasted a lot of time and risk to waste more than 1000 € (to just talk about the measurable value of the camera)

This morning I’ve understood more than ever why one of my best friend used to call me “GG” (Goofy Girl). I guess that today someone, up in the sky, laughed very loudly! :)

Relaxing soap bubbles, even if…

May 6, 2010

Making soap bubbles and taking pictures of them is a great way to relax and today i needed to.

They are captivating…

and still surprise me with unexpected colors

Possible colors, I know, but not that common…

Today I tried to use a straw to make soap bubble.

This instrument is, first of all “not pink”, and this is good! Second it makes possible having a better control of the “bubble parameters”

There’s just one problem, if you get distracted and you don’t coordinate breath in the proper way, you might end up sucking soap instead of blowing a bubble…

Sigh!

Fortunately this mistake hurts only my pride and nothing else.

Just wondering, are kids smarter than me (it’s pretty possible) or generally it’s better to make them using a blower instead of the straw?

I’ve taken other pictures but I’m too lazy and sleepy to publish them.

Have a great night!
