50x70cm to overcome homesickness

April 8, 2013

The size of the poster that the webmaster will hang to his bedroom wall in a few days (hopefully).

His only request was “Just things from Sicily”.

Attempt to overcome homesickness a little :)

PosterPerEmaWhat does it shows?
From upper left cornerMt Etna, a sunflower after a rain of July.
A rose of last May. Water of Pantalica. Java, you know her.
A detail of a Catania fountain, a blackbird, a sunset seen from Catania port. Soap bubble
Ponte dei Saraceni, a garofano,
webmaster’s favorite cat living close to my bro’s house, this cat has just one long tooth and an incredible acting ability, despite it’s clearly properly feed he always asks you for something.
And, of course, a picture of the shadow of his girlfriend taken during our trip to Pantalica.

Half-awake when…

July 21, 2012

It was not 6am but it is my “early” morning… c’mon, it’s saturday and i’m in a kind of vacation mode
One week ago I was dealing with Poissons brackets and other analytical mechanics lectures.
This morning I was on the balcony just checking weather conditions when Mozzi asked “what’s wrong with that sunflower?”

And nothing was wrong, there was just a little butterfly offering a relaxing picture moment.

It finally bloomed

June 16, 2010

The sunflower I had planted on March 3rd bloomed a few days ago.

Yesterday wasn’t really sunny so I did play too much with lights in picture editing. ^_^

Is that one of the…

April 21, 2010

Any relative: “Is that one of the…”

Me: “Yep, one of the flower we have on the balcony.”

his/her/their answer: “Ah!”

How I love when this happens! :)

Big day today because I woke up at 7:20 am and it’s 8:23 pm and I still didn’t fall asleep.

Big day today even for this little 3 0f 8 planted-”guys” are already coming out…

Considering I planted those sunflower seeds on April 15th, seems cool, eh?!

Two by Two

March 27, 2010

Since I haven’t go out today and I’ve a terrible lack of imagination, I decided that part of the “project” will be focused on “documenting” the sunflower growth.

Something close to a scientific curiosity, or better just curiosity, than an effective form of “art”.

That’s me too, sorry!

If I’m not wrong it forms two symmetrically placed leaves per “level”,  and each leaf-level is orthogonal to the previous one.

I’m not sure what happens soon before it forms the bud… we’ll see!

I know I might check on wikipedia or anywhere else, and find proper description, but I enjoy to observe nature with my own eyes and picture it when possible.

Sunny day today!

March 20, 2010

It’s growing up fast!

A flower of which I’ve not been taking a picture of since spring 2008

To end up with a post lunch “walk on the balcony” with parents to get the last sun rays and, to bother mom while she was eating her mandarin orange

The sunflower and the webmaster

March 19, 2010

Finally the first sunflower, of the two I planted the 3rd March, come out:

and the webmaster came to solve some little problems with my computers

I bothered him a little to take this picture but he didn’t complain too much. He can be lovely, can’t he? :)

3 years together

March 3, 2010

Today outside was cloudy and cold, this wasted our plans to stay a whole day out taking pictures.

I wanted to try to plant two sunflower seeds. One comes from the present I received from the webmaster for my 21st birthday. The other is one year younger because I  hadsaved the “present fruits” and planted eight of them in following spring.

I had the luck to see a little sunflower blooming at the end of November and still looking nice in December, why shouldn’t they bloom a few days away from spring? We’ll see what happens.

These 2 little sunflower seeds, challenged by the weather conditions, remind me so many events that, I’d really love to see them blooming.

The ring is our promise ring and is two years old now. I love the way the numbers three and two repeated for several reasons today.

Nonessential, unusual and inefficient

December Sunflower

Probably the only one in this place and time, and stronger than I appear. Probably not.

Definitely alive, real and loved
